Project Change: Music With A Purpose

Who We Are

Project Change: Music With a Purpose came about when I (Michaela) was up at 3:00 am listening to music. Every night I would pray to God that I would one day do something that would change the world for Him. And this is what He gave me.

I do all my heavy thinking at that time in between night and day, like between 3:00 and 4:00 when no one is awake, and it's peaceful, and the sun is barely up, so things are a little obscure, but you can still make things out. For me, it's like the only true moment of nothingness. It's so perfect, and still pure, because the troubles of yesterday are melting away, and the troubles of tomorrow haven't happened yet. It's awesome. Anyways, I was listening to my iPod and it was on shuffle. So, I heard these three songs one after the other: "Change" by Group 1 Crew (AKA our theme song), "Critical Emergency" by Group 1 Crew, and "Come So Far (Got So Far To Go)", from Hairspray. I started thinking about everything that could be changed in the world, and how messed up life is, and how the only thing that makes sense, at least for me, is music. It's the only constant in my life other than God. So, one thing led to another, and I was up all night!

Our mission is to help people that couldn't otherwise help themselves. There is so much pain, suffering, poverty, and injustice in the world, and to change it, all it takes is one person to care! We need to come together and help someone other than ourselves, and I think it can best be done through the healing power of music.

So, I immediately got on Facebook to tell my closest friends about PC. We're affilliated with a couple of organizations:

The Economic Resource Center- a non-profit organization my mom started a long time ago. They give food to people who wouldn't be able to afford groceries, they give away clothes, and now they are working on an education incentive program.

Girls S.P.E.A.K.- A group I created to help empower girls, and let them know they aren't alone. http://www.girlsspeak.webs.com/

Green Temple Holiness Church- My home church, you will always be welcome there!

The Clean Teens- A group that promotes abstinence and being pure, started by our vice president Chantal.
